| BARRED PLYMOUTH ROCKS Named for the Plymouth rock in Massachusetts and their barred color the Barred Plymouth Rock was the first American breed of poultry. The Barred Rocks were first exhibited at a poultry show in Boston, Massachusetts in 1849. They are a dual purpose fowl for the production of eggs and meat. The exhibition quality Barred Rock is distinguishable by it's beautiful alternate black and white bars that run straight across the feather and end in a narrow black tip. Carl has been raising this breed for over 44 years. |

| THE AMERAUCANA This breed was developed in the United States in the 1970's. Crosses were made with the Araucana from South America, which lay a turquoise or blue egg. This was done by persons who admired the egg color, but wanted a more dual purpose fowl that did not carry the lethal gene of the Araucana. We have raised Ameraucanas for a few years now and they are a good dual purpose fowl that are hardy and lay lovely eggs. When mixed in a carton with the brown eggs from the Barred Rocks and the white eggs from the Sumatras and Buttercups it makes a very pretty combination. |
